COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Stage Point FCU and local auto dealers are collecting needed food items for ACSD’s Weekend Backpack Program to help nearly 100 children by providing backpacks filled with nonperishable items every Friday. Collection boxes are at StagePoint Branches—Laramie Range Ford, Laramie GM Auto Center and Johnson Auto of Laramie, and donations will be accepted through April 21.  County 5

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Wyoming demoted its popular dean this week—sparking widespread criticism—and some accused President Ed Seidel of retaliating after the dean questioned a funding shift.  Laramie Boomerang

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is moving beavers near Powell to help restore local waterways and habitats. Officials explained the program does more than save the species—it also benefits the environment.  Laramie Boomerang
  • A recent study by the University of Wyoming found that many antelope died during the cold winter of 2022–23 when they traveled too far looking for food and ran into fences and roads in the Red Desert; the hard, frozen snow made it hard for them to get under the fences.  Cowboy State Daily

  • Several Laramie County residents said they did not receive information from U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman’s office on how the town hall would be run — they accused her of intentionally excluding some attendees. Hageman denies the allegations made by the residents.  Laramie Boomerang
