- ➤ A former Plains Hotel housekeeper signed a plea deal for probation — which may yield three years without jail if the judge accepts it — after she was accused of stealing about $26,000 in coins from an elderly couple staying at the hotel. Cowboy State Daily
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Wyoming President Ed Seidel is accepting letters and CVs for the interim provost role—applications are due by May 21 and the new interim provost will be announced at the June Board of Trustees meeting. - ➤ The Wyoming Supreme Court is looking at a case over a $3M sales tax break for oil and gas companies + counties that get revenue from these taxes may be affected. The court will announce its ruling soon + the decision could change local funding for these areas. Laramie Boomerang
- ➤ State Treasurer Curt Meier said he plans to invest between $1 billion and $1.5 billion of state earnings to expand Wyoming’s manufacturing capacity—he aims to increase domestic production of strategic minerals and pharmaceuticals amid tariff pressures.
