CRIME NEWS

  • A transient man David Wayne Leyba, 61, was sentenced Tuesday to a two-month jail stint with credit for time served and will face a strict three-year probation program that includes in-patient treatment and drug court participation — the judge warned he faces six to eight years in prison if he contacts his victim and he must pay nearly $7,735 in restitution for the harm caused in 2023.  Cowboy State Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, WyoTech in Laramie announced a $42.8 million expansion that will add 137,000 square feet to its campus to meet growing demand for trade programs. The project will add 142 new welding seats—boosting seats from 58 to 200—and raise total enrollment to about 1,800 while waiting lists stretch to April.  Cowboy State Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The American Lung Association named Fremont County and Casper as having the cleanest air for year-round particles. Several Wyoming counties, including Teton and Sublette, received failing grades for other pollutants + the report warned that reduced EPA funding could weaken health protections.  Cowboy State Daily
