COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Laramie celebrates National Bike Month by urging residents to pump tires, check brakes and ride local trails. The month-long event promotes safety and enjoyment for cyclists (local experts offer practical tips).  Laramie Boomerang

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wyoming Downs and 307 Horse Racing announced on April 29 that they will invest $180 million in projects including a new gambling facility in Laramie (expected to create jobs and boost local revenue).  Laramie Boomerang

ECONOMY NEWS

  • BWXT announced at the Next Frontier Energy Summit in Laramie that its $500 million nuclear fuel plant in Gillette has secured California-based Kairos Power as its first customer; the plant will break ground in 2028, start with 200 employees + may boost local business as state contracts finalize.  Cowboy State Daily

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Between Monday and Wednesday, southeast Wyoming saw snowfall making early May record snowier than last winter, with Cheyenne recording 8.9 inches (about 1.1 inch water) and Laramie County getting around 1 inch. Meteorologists expect scattered showers Thursday afternoon and Saturday night as highs rise to 81 degrees on Monday.  Cowboy State Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials say Laramie manages its own fire rules and coordinates with regional guidelines (Albany County is under Stage 1 restrictions since March 25). Small, controlled recreational fires and charcoal grilling on improved land are allowed, but burning trash, fireworks, or other materials without a permit is banned.  County 5
