Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 3rd of June.
Good morning, Laramie.
🚧 Accidents
Sawyer Costa, a 10-year-old Laramie girl, died Saturday after her life support was removed a week following injuries from being hit by a truck while crossing near the local golf course — the incident is under active investigation.
📰 Economy
GasBuddy's survey shows that gasoline prices in Wyoming dropped 3.2 cents last week and now average $3.07 today, with the cheapest at $2.71 and the most expensive at $4.29—prices are 5.9 cents lower than a month ago and 22.3 cents lower than a year ago.
Travelers planning summer road trips may face higher hotel costs as demand grows while gas prices drop to around the low $3 range compared to last year—AAA spokesman Julian Paredes and GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan expect lower gas prices to help offset some travel expenses.
The trend suggests that even with rising lodging rates, cheaper fuel could ease overall trip costs for road warriors.
🏛️ Government
Converse County rancher Mike Stephens filed a petition for review with the Eighth Judicial District Court on April 30 to challenge the Wyoming Board of Land Commissioners for approving a 45-year lease for the Pronghorn Clean Hydrogen Center wind project in Converse County—Stephens says the board did not follow proper rules and risks blocking his family’s historic view. He plans to join a local meeting on June 7 to discuss growing opposition toward the project.
