ENVIRONMENT NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office finalized a deal with ICE that lets three jail deputies check on inmates and work on Interstates 80 and 25—this is meant to help stop drug and human trafficking. Two deputies who speak Spanish will attend a four-week training course in South Carolina in August with ICE paying for travel as the county works on another plan to house ICE detainees longer.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Wyoming U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman joined Rep. Mary Miller in sponsoring a bill to change June from 'Pride Month' to 'Family Month' so that the month honors traditional family values—supporters claim the change will restore respect for the nuclear family. Critics argue that the move dismisses the diverse forms of family and say debates in Congress will soon address the proposal.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Legislators are considering a bill to offer cheaper nonresident native hunting tags for Wyoming natives who now live out of state, following Montana’s Come Home to Hunt program—officials say the plan would let former residents hunt for less and bring families together. Kim Dean and J.D. Williams support the proposal and expect it may come before the 2026 session—hoping it will encourage more Wyomingites to return to hunt.  Cowboy State Daily
