CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Laramie County Sheriff's Office confirmed 64-year-old Karen Bryan, accused of embezzling thousands from a church, was arrested while boarding a cruise ship in Ketchikan, Alaska — law enforcement now awaits her waiver for extradition. Laramie Live
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Wyoming Historical Society announced it has ended its county chapters to allow local groups more control by forming independent nonprofit entities—critics say the move undermines a decades-old system and has left many in the historical community feeling disrespected and uncertain about the future. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Albany County School District 1 Board of Trustees unanimously approved the second reading of Policy 5050 - Firearms on School Property - which sets new rules on firearm possession at schools. The board will also consider a free lunch program at upcoming meetings. Laramie Boomerang
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former House Speaker Tom Lubnau warned that eliminating property taxes will shift the burden to local taxpayers—forcing higher sales taxes and loss of federal PILT payments—and said that a proposal to ease the burden by using sales tax for residential properties was rejected by the Freedom Caucus. - ➤ The City of Laramie today released an interactive map that shows summer construction projects including a new water tank & water line, sewer maintenance, chip & fog sealing, and improvements on Ivinson Avenue. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Laramie Rangers are hosting the 16th Dooley Oil Classic at Cowboy Field from Thursday through Sunday, with both AA and A squads playing against teams from Wyoming and regional rivals from Montana, Nebraska and South Dakota + KOWB radio will broadcast the games live. The tournament comes as the Rangers look to build on their recent efforts after a challenging weekend in Rapid City. Laramie Live
