COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Albany County Housing Coalition is asking renters, homeowners and long and new residents for feedback on Laramie’s housing shortage using a survey open until July 11. Survey results will be shared at the coalition meeting on August 11 at noon on LCCC campus—those interested in joining can attend a meeting on July 14 at 1125 Boulder Drive, Room 108.  County 5
  • A community race will take place on July 5 at Optimist Park and the Laramie River Greenbelt Park/Trail to honor injured firefighters and raise funds for their recovery — the event is set to unite neighbors in support of local heroes.  Laramie Boomerang

CULTURE NEWS

  • The University of Wyoming Art Museum is selling an exhibition catalogue for Bad Outdoorsmen which takes a humorous and critical look at U.S. outdoorsmanship. The catalogue is available at the museum store.  Laramie Boomerang

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Soldiers from the 94th Troop Command of the Wyoming Army National Guard volunteered with Rooted in Laramie to plant trees on June 14—supporting a large-scale effort to boost local green spaces. The event added to Laramie's ongoing environmental projects.  Laramie Boomerang

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former state Sen Ray Peterson supported Sen Mike Lee’s proposal to sell or transfer federal land — roughly 3.3 million acres — to state and local governments as a way to address federal mismanagement. He warned that changing control might risk transferring public land into private hands.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Residents in Laramie should plan for delays on Monday, June 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. as a superload transport carrying a large transformer travels from the Laramie railyard along West Lyons Street, Cedar Street, and Snowy Range Road—joining Interstate 80 before continuing its route west and returning in the second week of July.  City of Laramie
