EDUCATION NEWS

  • Senators Lummis, Barrasso and Representative Hageman introduced the Wyoming Education Trust Modernization Act to allow new investment strategies for the state's $5.4 billion school trust fund so that school funding could rise from 5% to 8.3% without raising taxes. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Wyoming Game and Fish Department confirmed that invasive New Zealand mudsnails are present in Gelatt Lake and Wheatland Reservoir #3 near Laramie after angler reports from late April and early this summer. Officials warn that cleaning, draining, and drying gear is essential to stop the spread — once these snails enter a waterbody, they cannot be removed.  Laramie Live
  • Dead trees and storm-damaged branches are blocking trails in Wyoming because federal crews have fewer workers due to budget cuts — local outfitters and volunteer groups now work to clear them; outfitter Lee Livingston said delays cost his business up to $3,000 a day.  Cowboy State Daily
