Nearly 18 months after the lake was renamed Knight Lake—formerly known as Swastika Lake—in January 2024 to honor geologist Samuel Knight, residents remain divided.

Some locals say the change removes a chance to teach the broader history of the swastika while others support distancing the lake from its Nazi association.

At Cheyenne Frontier Days, quadriplegic photographer Shane Paul captured a slow-motion video that turns a five-second bull ride into 21 seconds—showing the ride's raw power and the rider's struggle to stay on while Paul plans to return for the finals this weekend.
