Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 10th of August.
Good morning, Laramie.
🏘️ Community
Residents, neighbors, and law enforcement gathered at Undine Park Wednesday for Laramie’s second annual National Night Out while hot dogs sizzled and conversations flowed.
The event (featuring the aroma of grilling hot dogs) strengthened community ties (as local officers joined in the celebration).
🎭 Culture
Jim Ehernberger, an 88-year-old Cheyenne railroad veteran, donated his extensive railroading collection including photos, documents and books to the University of Wyoming’s American Heritage Center, where historians call it invaluable (over 1,200 boxes of materials).
He worked for Union Pacific for 35 years and still writes about Wyoming railroading (a donation that will help future research).
🎓 Education
John Koprowski, dean of the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming—also a Wyoming Excellence Chair—was elected president of the American Society of Mammalogists.
