CULTURE NEWS

  • Trent Weitzel and his Double Dub’s crew from Laramie won the top award at the National Buffalo Wing Festival on Sunday—marking a fourth straight win and earning trophies for their signature sauces while facing supply challenges. He said the team may return next year in a different role as they reassess their festival presence.  Cowboy State Daily
  • In the late 1800s, Bill Nye, a well-known humorist from Laramie, named his newspaper and mine after his orphan mule Boomerang because the animal brought him luck and inspired his work. • Jess Camilla O’Neal, a Wyoming cowgirl who once opened for Reba, is making her comeback after she overcame a life-threatening accident and stage 4 breast cancer—she has released her album The Campfire Sessions to share her healing journey. She also plans to start a foundation to support local women facing cancer.  Cowboy State Daily

FINANCE NEWS

  • Wyoming launched its Frontier Stable Token today to offer a secure digital currency for transactions on seven major blockchains—backed by government assets and managed by the Wyoming Stable Token Commission under the Wyoming Stable Token Act. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cassie Craven, a University of Wyoming College of Law graduate, criticized Wyoming’s habitual offender law—designed to punish those with two or more felony convictions—by stating that the law’s roots in discredited eugenic thinking and its harsh, mandatory sentences leave defendants with little chance for a fair trial. Her column warns that the inflexible sentencing structure risks imposing life terms even in cases stemming from minor disputes.  Cowboy State Daily
