  • Families, advocates and supporters from across the state will gather in Laramie on Saturday for the 25th annual Wyoming Buddy Walk—an event that promotes awareness, inclusion and support for its cause.  Laramie Boomerang

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On September 4th, troopers responded near US-287 south of Laramie at 2:46 p.m. and used snow shovels to fight a grassy blaze that burned nearly ten miles along the highway until local fire officials arrived—sparks from vehicles may have started the fire.  County 5

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wyoming Game and Fish said more male sagegrouse showed up on leks this spring with an average of 31 per active lek and an 11% rise from last year. Officials warned that a dry summer could lower the numbers next year — and the birds follow a seven-to-nine-year cycle.  Laramie Live
  • A drilling rig in Sweetwater County drilled nearly 3.5 miles into Wyoming rock and reached 18,437 ft to complete the deepest Class VI carbon storage well ever drilled in the US last week. The Sweetwater Carbon Storage Hub (a collaboration between the University of Wyoming and Frontier Infrastructure Holdings) will now move to detailed modeling, permitting, and testing for future CO2 injection.  Cowboy State Daily

  • WYDOT will close the Laramie Driver Services office at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 8—staff will train on new MAX and oneWYO software, and the office will reopen for normal business on Sept. 12.  County 5
  • The Laramie City Council advanced sweeping housing code revisions after Tuesday’s meeting to boost housing options, ease parking rules, and lower costs—changes that will alter zoning in the city.  Laramie Boomerang
  • Columnist Tom Lubnau explained that property tax cuts last session have forced local governments to rely on a complex state distribution formula—using sales revenues, property valuations, and hardship measures—to fund services.
