COMMUNITY NEWS

  • City officials say the 8-lane pool remains closed as they work to fix a slow heater — new UV filters have been installed and other facilities such as the leisure pool, steam room, sauna and hot tub are open. Residents can check the Fall Schedule for further updates.  County 5

ECONOMY NEWS

  • GasBuddy reports that Wyoming's average gasoline price dropped 2.3 cents this week to $3.07 today, though prices remain 4.2 cents above last month's rate and 18.3 cents below last year's level—showing small shifts in the market. Local drivers can expect steady changes as the region adjusts to these trends.  Laramie Live

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Jeff and Kim French Trust established the Cowboy State Scholarship to help Wyoming residents study STEM, agriculture, and trade fields. The $1,000 yearly award—divided between the fall and spring semesters—is for two students who meet a 2.5 GPA and full-time enrollment requirement.  Laramie Live

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Laramie County landowner said wind turbines in the Laramie Range Wind Project may harm earthworms by causing vibrations that could lead to soil erosion.   • The Interior announced last week that it will repeal the Public Lands Rule and open a 60-day public comment period—conservation advocates worry the change will reduce protection for wildlife and alter migration routes in Wyoming.   • Columnist Gail Symons stresses that Wyoming must fully fund its suicide hotline—988—to ensure rural residents get lasting crisis care, as current funding only meets a fraction of the need.
