Good morning, Laramie. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 13th of October.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wyoming sugar beet growers said prices fell 33% as cheap, subsidized sugar from foreign markets is dumped in the market—farmers reject claims that weight loss drugs caused lower demand. They also face rising costs for equipment and fertilizer that threaten long-term profitability.  Cowboy State Daily

CULTURE NEWS

  • Taylor Sheridan’s Wind River is trending on Netflix as fans look forward to a sequel that finished filming last year but does not have a set release date yet. Retired Fremont County Coroner Mark Stratmoen said the movie made mistakes about Wyoming (such as errors in forensic details and missing proper depiction of the Lander FBI office) and hopes the new film will correct these issues.  Cowboy State Daily

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Randy Svalina, a Laramie man who has battled bone cancer since 2002 and received a new prosthetic leg, went hunting last week and crawled on his new leg to bag an antelope buck after his wife helped by shooting one. He now plans to build a rifle rest from his prosthetic leg — a fresh symbol of his resolve in overcoming challenges.  Cowboy State Daily
