CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Laramie Civic Chorus and Campus Community Band will join forces for a collaborative concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10 at the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts at UW. Laramie Boomerang
- ➤ Wyoming PBS will show an extended trailer for the upcoming documentary “Home from the Vietnam War” in Laramie in honor of Veterans Day. The screening features veteran Lt. Lee Alley — a main subject of the film. Laramie Boomerang
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tessa Livingston, a University of Wyoming electrical engineering student, was awarded best paper at an international conference. Her work in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department shows her strong commitment to making a difference. Laramie Boomerang
- ➤ After touring the empty Beitel Elementary School, the Albany County School District Board of Trustees weighed whether a $3.4M renovation was worth the cost—the board will decide on the project at an upcoming meeting. Laramie Boomerang
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Sen. Larry Hicks said he is sponsoring a draft bill that would require wind and solar companies to pay compensation if their projects harm wildlife by disrupting habitat or migration routes. The legislative committee discussed the bill but declined to sponsor it, so Hicks may try to reintroduce it in the 2026 session if another lawmaker supports his remaining proposals—he said the measure is meant to protect Wyoming’s public trust in wildlife. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Wyoming applied for up to $800 million in federal funds to boost rural health care— the state plans to use the money to stabilize hospitals, increase preventive care, grow its workforce and improve technology. Laramie Boomerang

Join us at Optimist Park/Greenbelt for a 5K or 1 mile run on Thanksgiving morning. Registration opens at 7:30AM with the 1 miler starting at 8:30 and the 5K at 9:00AM.
