Good morning, Laramie. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 21st of November.

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An elk hunter near Laramie Peak found aircraft parts on Wednesday that investigators said—after examining the debris—were likely from a Cessna Citation engine cowling that blew off mid-flight from a Dec. 18 incident, and officials confirmed the plane landed safely.  Cowboy State Daily

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Several University of Wyoming committees met Wednesday during the first day of three days of Board of Trustees meetings at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center to review audits, budgets and funding—reviews that will shape future financial oversight.  Laramie Boomerang

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Vice President Dick Cheney was laid to rest on November 20th at Washington National Cathedral, and Wyoming leaders along with longtime friends remembered him for his roles as a congressman, Pentagon chief, and vice president. The service was respectful and free of politics—attendees hailed him as a 'true man of the West'—and he died at 84 from complications of pneumonia and heart problems.  Cowboy State Daily
  • Vedauwoo Volunteer Fire Department chief Matt Isborn said that past funds were withheld and future funding may be withheld by the department's auxiliary — so a planned tree sale will not help support the fire department.  Laramie Boomerang
